Redlands is perfectly located for easy access to all of the Southern Lakes ski areas.
The main lifts at Coronet Peak ski area can be seen from the window as can the access road to the Remarkables.
Cardrona and Treble Cone ski areas are a spectacular scenic drive away over the “Crown Range Road”, New Zealand’s highest State Highway.

Coronet Peak
Coronet Peak ski resort is located just 18km from Redlands. With 690 acres of wide open, undulating ski runs Coronet Peak ski offers a varied terrain for all levels of ability.
Coronet Peak is well known for its excellent night skiing that operates between mid-July and mid-September on Friday and Saturday nights.
Ski trails at Coronet Peak are broken down into beginner routes (20 per cent), intermediate routes (45 per cent) and advanced routes (35 per cent). The slopes are serviced by a system of six ski lifts including a high speed six-seater, express quad chair, double chair, T-bar, magic carpet and a beginner tow. The ski resort’s base elevation is 5,410 feet above sea level, the longest run comes in at one mile (1.6km). The vertical drop at Coronet Peak is 1,378 feet.
A terrain park and two half-pipes also add to Coronet Peaks attraction.
The Remarkables
The Remarkables ski resort is located just 19km (15 mins ) from Redlands.
Spread out over three natural bowls at an elevation of 6,348 feet The Remarkables is set within 1,730 acres of alpine reserve and offers 544 acres of skiing terrain. There are five ski lifts with the highest having a drop of 1,170 vertical feet. There is also an excellent board park that includes a super-pipe and a rail park.
The Remarkables is an excellent choice for families and often has special offers on lift passes for children.

Cardrona
Located midway between Wanaka and Queenstown and just 35km (40 minute drive) from Redlands, Cardrona ski resort sits at 5,480 feet above sea level and is spread over 790 acres.
Cardrona features wide open trails plus terrain parks and pipes of which 25 per cent are suitable for beginners, 55 per cent for intermediates and 20 per cent for advanced riders.
Cardrona prides itself on being a first class family-style resort, with a comprehensive selection of beginners’ courses, tuition programs and childcare facilities.
Seven modern lifts at Cardrona allow a capacity of 7800 people per hour.
Treble Cone
If you are an advanced skier then Treble Cone is worth a visit. Still easily driven (approximately 1 hour 15 minutes) but the greatest distance from Redlands, Treble Cone has a summit altitude of 6850 feet.
Add to this a vertical drop of 2165 feet Treble Cone has some of the longest runs in New Zealand!
Situated on 1359 acres with 50 per cent of the runs being of an advanced level it is not ideal for beginners. But, because of this reason Treble Cone is often less busy and still offers a good beginner area and world class facilities.
Waiorau Nordic Ski Area and Snow Park
55 miles of well groomed quality cross-country ski trails on a 12,355-acre ski farm. Waiorau Nordic Ski Area is the first all mountain terrain park in Australia and New Zealand.
Waiorau Nordic Ski Area lies at an elevation of 4,920 to 6,496 feet and is located on the opposite of the valley from Cardrona.
